As the musical soul of audio-visual duo, Sculpture, Dan Hayhurst’s output over the past
decade has assimilated elements of auto-production, pop, noise, media collage and
cutting edge techno. Critter Party, Hayhurst’s first album under his own name, applies
these approaches with wilful disregard for structural integrity to a personal take on
technological-pastoral psychedelia, using guitar and percussion as primary sources.
The Critter Party sessions took place in London during 2015 and the record was cut by
legendary mastering engineer Noel Summerville at 3345. The album’s lavish artwork was
created by Hayhurst’s longtime collaborator, New Zealand-born visual artist and
director, Reuben Sutherland.
